The Stadtmuseum Berlin’s research programme contributes to making the artefacts included in its collections accessible. The results that this research reveals are incorporated into the concepts of our exhibitions. Our fields of research also include how visitors perceive what we put on offer and how museums can further develop in future.
We have been placing a particular emphasis on research into provenance since 2010. The Stadtmuseum Berlin is currently analysing the origin of all relevant artefacts in its collections that may have been plundered as a result of persecution during the Nazi period.
The research group at the Stadtmuseum Berlin looks into themes connected to Berlin urban society together with educational, cultural and scientific partners. Based on these projects, he then designs events that are aimed at the general public.
