Berlin Exhibition in the Humboldt Forum

A new forum for Berlin and the world

In 2021, the experiential exhibition BERLIN GLOBAL on the first floor of the Humboldt Forum will show how Berlin interacts with the rest of the world.

Berlin will serve as a link in the Humboldt Forum, connecting the actual site and the dialog forums on the lower and ground floors as well as the exhibitions of world cultures on the upper floors. At the same time, the Berlin exhibition in the newly built Berlin Palace is not intended to tell a predetermined success story. On the contrary, Berlin is a difficult protagonist. One feature of Berlin is that it was and still is a cosmopolitan city, a province, a green oasis, a belated capital, a cultural hub and an industrial metropolis at the same time. Sometimes Berlin was and still is faced with challenges that were and are exemplary for different epochs and trends. Sometimes Berlin took and still takes its own paths.

Berlin as a link

The historically condensed narrative focuses on the 19th and 20th centuries. It wants to be socially significant for today's visitors. Consequently, the conception of the exhibition has adopted an approach that encourages participation. Integrative, accessible, clearly structured and designed to be looked at, touched and listened to, the exhibition will offer an opportunity for presentation and dialogue at the same time. Following the idea of the Humboldt Forum as a place of encounter, discovery, reflection and communication, the Berlin exhibition at the Humboldt Forum will place great emphasis on communication with and among visitors.

Embark on a joint search for answers to the challenges of the 21st century through the eyes of today!
